Grain supply in PEI

Post by benwedge » Sun Aug 07, 2011 7:21 pm

Does anyone know of a good grain supplier over here? I'm hoping to throw together a pilsener or something to give all-grain a try this week. I was going to stop at the Noble Grape before skipping town, but I left with 30 minutes notice so that didn't happen.
Brewing right now: whatever is going on tap at Stillwell in a few weeks.

Called the guy, no response to my voicemail message. Oh well, heading to Halifax next week, back on the 24th probably. Anyone need something brought back?

Apparently, this is the guy who is starting the new brewery on PEI - "Barnone Enterprises" or "Bar None Enterprises".
I saw this wino, he was eating grapes. I was like, "Dude, you have to WAIT!" - Mitch Hedberg

I think Jimmy can set you up in the vendor section, with whatever name you like. Good to have you here!
And let us know how you got started, etc.
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter. :wtf:

Sounds good! I can't wait to try it out. I called 892-6159 I think. Or 621-0515.

Oh and I'll PM you in the morning about grains. Need to think about what I want. My brew day has been pushed back until the 25th though so I may hold off.

Has anyone tried going directly to Gahan Brewery / PEI Brewing Co for bulk malt? I've heard rumours to this effect, but haven't heard much of it actually working out or what they would sell malt for.

Just message Jimmy, he will be able to change your username.
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.
