I finally got an all grain in the fermenter. It was a fun filled 6 hour brew day and I thought that was pretty good for the first one even though I ran into many issues with my brew.
I was not used to computer programs for beer. I had 5 pages of different steps, mash schedules, etc they were from different sites as I was unsure of what I was really doing. I failed to fill out a brew plan and forgot to take gravity samples. I was short almost 2 gallons of water for my sparge, so I added water before the boil thinking I had a larger than average water loss due to equipment. I ended up with 16 litres in the fermenter. I will add 4 litres before I keg. I know the day could have went much smoother with better planning. I tasted the wort and it tasted fine but a little strong, hence the reason for the water addition later on. I'm sure the beer will be fine and I'm sure I'm not the only one to have a "shagged up" first brew day.
My beer was to be a Session IPA at about 4% I have no idea what it will be but it is now called "Shagged Up Session IPA"
