Fridge

Post by Timelord_ » Tue Apr 07, 2015 7:16 pm

what is the recommended fridge to store two ball lock kegs + 5lber. I see a lot of mentions of the Danby 4.4.

Right now I am using picnic taps but would like the ability to add a tower at a later date.

Cheers

Danby 4.4 is the ticket but be aware they can be badged/branded with other names (mine is Whirlpool and I think Sunbeam is another one).

If you can you want to get an "all-fridge" model with no freezer. The one with freezer can work but you have to bend it down and can crack the coolant line in doing so at which point the it magically turns into a paperweight.

Costco has the Danny 4.4 all fridge and goes on sale from time to time, that's where I got mine. Regular price a couple years ago was $180, sale was $150 I think.
Princess Auto often has 4.4 all fridge for $130, but they are a refurb.
They are really easy to modify for kegs and also a tower. I did mine and a friend's as well.

I'll join the chorus and say the Danby 4.4 is great. I got mine at Princess Auto in Burnside for $99, 2 tap tower online and did the mod as per lots of instructions. Works awesome for me.

FYI - Princess Auto had at least 7 Danby's in stock last night when I was there. There was no price on them, but they are usually $130, refurbs.
