That is great to see where we can fill up the CO2 Containers. I will be definitely running in to Breton's in Dartmouth!

Re: CO2 tank refilling and hydro-testing
Glad to hear you are finding it useful. Just a note, Don Brenton's is in Lakeside ("beyond" Bayers Lake Business Park), not Dartmouth. Simplex is in Burnside.flamesfan86 wrote:That is great to see where we can fill up the CO2 Containers. I will be definitely running in to Breton's in Dartmouth!
Just don't want you to show up at one and expecting the service/price of the other!

Re: CO2 tank refilling and hydro-testing
Not sure what a hydro costs at Simplex, but my last 5lb fill was $17.25 and I think that included tax so if you're on that side it will be cheaper.
Currently on tap:
1) Festa Brown Ale
2) Festa Pale Ale
3) Best Case Northern Lights
4) Festa Continental Pilsner
In the bucket: Empty
In the carboy: Empty
Buy yourself a 24 and you'll be happy for a weekend. Teach yourself to homebrew and you'll be happy for a lifetime.

Re: CO2 tank refilling and hydro-testing
Prices are in the first post, $25 for a hydro. Simplex is a flat rate, so for 5lb and lower they are the winner, it seems like above that, Brenton's wins on price. Of course, this doesn't take into account travel to/from the location.the-mailman wrote:Not sure what a hydro costs at Simplex, but my last 5lb fill was $17.25 and I think that included tax so if you're on that side it will be cheaper.

AFAIK, they will offer a cheaper rate if you're getting 2 5lb tanks filled instead of 1. There's a "setup charge" of some sort built into the price.Keith wrote:I got 2 5lbs filled at the same time at simplex for just over 25 taxes in

CO2 tank refilling and hydro-testing
Their pricing scheme seems backwards to me if they give discounts for bulk number of tanks versus bulk weight of gas. It's the same amount of work to hook up one 5lb vs 10lb tank. Assuming the first post is still correct, they charge $2.25/lb, plus a $2.50 premium on the 5lb size (but not on other sizes). Or maybe it's just that when going for two 5lbs, you're now in 10lb territory, for which there's no setup charge?Jimmy wrote:AFAIK, they will offer a cheaper rate if you're getting 2 5lb tanks filled instead of 1. That's good to note for the first post, I will add it.
Edit: Double-checked my math based on the first post...

Re: CO2 tank refilling and hydro-testing
I forget the actual reason - but it's not a "setup charge"..that's just the best word I could come up with.chalmers wrote:If that were the case, I'd expect filling a 20lb tank be cheaper than four times that of a 5lb price (only one setup charge versus four, same price per pound), but that wasn't the case when I last went. From all reports, the costs are just $$ per weight. But that's good to note for the first post, I will add it.
It has nothing to do with the number of tanks, or size of tank..it's more about being able to eat a cost if you're filling 10lbs of gas or more at a time.. we're paying a premium to fill a 5lb tank. I don't know if the discount is something that always applies, or just something they will do if you mention it.
Edit: I feel like it had something to do with purging their lines before filling or something along those lines?

Re: CO2 tank refilling and hydro-testing
I guess I wasn't cute enough to get the discount. I didn't ask for a discount straight up, but did mention that I was from the Brewnosers home brew club, even dropped Leafsman's name.
$50 for a 20lb fill (when I'm used to $25) was a bit of a shocker.
