Local Hop rhizomes/plants?
I would like to plant some hops this spring, preferably from a local grower. I have the perfect spot laid out with enough room to grow three plants. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Cheers!

What varieties are you looking for? I'll probably have some golding and cascade rhizomes in the next few weeks.

Thanks for the reply amartin!
I was thinking either Tettnanger or Citra (not sure if Citra is proprietary...)but I do like Cascade. I've heard some of the Cascade that's available around may not be great for flavour/aroma hops, have you had success with your strain?
PM me and we can discuss

Re: Local Hop rhizomes/plants?
You won't find Citra... I believe the issue with most hops grown in the area aren't so much the rhizomes, but more so the growing conditions... Unless you really dial in the nutrients, don't expect any home grown hops to be like what you buy from reputable commercial growers.
That said, I'm likely going to have some nugget, cascade and goldings rhizomes to give away in the classified section soonish.

You don't want seed. They can produce males and cause low or no production.strawberryfarmer wrote:Would anyone near the Annapolis valley have any rhizomes or seeds they would like to sell?

Re: Local Hop rhizomes/plants?
I'm still waiting for the ground to thaw some more before I dig them up. The Dartmouth clay I'm on is hard enough as it is, and I don't want to break off any roots or buds.

Re: Local Hop rhizomes/plants?
I have five goldings available at the moment, and I'm waiting for the cascades to break ground, hopefully this week. Any takers? First dibs to those who've posted already.

Late to the party here, but if there's anything left after everyone else who spoke up I'd love a cascade rhizome or two.

Re: Local Hop rhizomes/plants?
My cascades didn't give me a lot of rhizomes this year, so I don't have anymore at the moment. I'll post if any come up in the next while.

If anyone has any rhizomes I would love to have some. I have built a space for three plants and I just need to get some growing there now.
