Recipie question?

Hi guys, I have a very basic question about reading a recipe. I have seen some recipes state what types of grain go in but they use % instead of number of pounds etc. For example:

Pale 2Row - 55%
Wheat Malt - 35%
Vienna Malt - 10%

I realize this is a newbie question but i just got my mashtun and brewpot and am looking at recipes and have noticed a few presented this way.So in the above recipe how many pounds of pale 2row should one use??

thanks.

Do you have beersmith?

You would want to enter your 3 grains, add the percentages, and then adjust to reach the desired gravity. By doing this, it will figure out the amount of grain required.

It's a nice program to use, you'll have fun using it, and it will all make sense. It's fun using that program to design your own beers and make your own creations also: http://beersmith.com/download-beersmith/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
