Insulating keggles with Rock wool

I went to Kent's contractor's trade show the other day and a really neat demo caught my eye. They had a piece of rockwool insulation under direct fire from a butane torch. This got me thinking it would be the perfect keggle insulation. Its also water resistant or at least it doesn't soak water up.

Not sure about the rockwool, but if you'd like to try some kaolin boiler refractory, you can have some for free.

Rockwool was used for years and still is in almost all professional brewing systems for microbreweries, good stuff

Is that what you are using in your setup?
I've got 3 kegs I am looking to transfer into a fully electric system, so I'm looking for little tips and tricks for this.

It's awesome stuff. Couldn't get it in Halifax when I was building my home - the nearest Canadian plant was in Mississauga and they wouldn't ship it out here as it takes up twice as much space as fiberglass.
It would work fine on a keggle.

I only use this for insulation. Used it in both of my houses in Ontario and am currently finishing my basement with it here. The real beauty of that insulation is that it is completely mold and mildew resistant. So unlike the pink crap, if you happen to spill something into it, no worries about black mold weeks down the road.

I actually don't bother. The water heater insulation from Piercy's is more than adequate.
