Used ball lock keg from NG

Hi all,
I recently picked up a used keg from Noble grape and after cleaning and sanitizing noticed that my ball lock connectors do not click on and are very hard to disconnect. They also have a smaller diameter from my other kegs, to disassemble my other kegs i use a 7/8" wrench to loosen while these use a 9/16". Anyone have this issue before?
Thanks

Just found replacement parts at Everwood, should solve my problems!

I think the poppet valves in the posts have been replaced (possibly by NG) with the universal type poppet valves. The springs are stiffer/stronger, and the top of the poppet will stick up slightly and not be flush with the top of the post. If that is the problem you can maybe take it back to NG and swap for a keg with the original poppet valves. Someone on here said you can cut the springs down on the universal poppets, but I never tried that. It's hard to get the original type of poppet valves and the universal ones are hateful as they make it hard to get the connectors on and off.
I did have the same issue with used ball lock kegs from NG, and they kindly exchanged them for ones with original poppet valves.

Keg lube is almost a must have for ball locks.

I never use keg lube on my ball lock kegs.. And I definitely wouldn't want to use it on the poppits or posts, I would only use it on the big lid o-ring

for the fittings. I find them to be stiff putting on and taking off.

Tried that as well! No different. I had to pull and twist back and forth to release them. I will talk to NG about the original poppits, thanks!

This could be: Gas-in posts have a groove where your wrench fits, double-check that.

I have one keg for which the connectors are very very tight to get off.

Good point, happened to me once, and similarly, they did not click on and were very hard to disconnect

That was it guys, don't know how to thank you!

Ball locks fit like a dream now. Must have gotten reversed at NG because i took them off one at a time to clean and sanitize!
Thanks again
