I can’t get no satisfaction, I can’t get no, oh no, no no

Short on beer today, gave all the best beer to the family and we darnk the rest. Got behind with brewing because of the infected batch, thought I had some beer to take to the brew day, but the keg blew…it’s a sad sad day :(

Went to the NSLC and picked up two bottles of Masi, an old favorite, didn’t recognise the labels, so asked the lady if it was the ordinary Masi, I didn’t used to like the fancy Masi, she thought I was nuts, especially since I was talking with an English accent…everyone thinks you are a halfwit when you talk in a foreign accent, unless it’s the young girls at the Tim Hortons drive through, and they are just awe struck, they don’t take in a word you say, then ask you to repeat the entire order just so they can hear that accent again.

I paid a lot for the two bottles of Masi, enough to make 10 gal of beer, and I looked behind me at the checkout. There was a stand with a kid behind it offering Keiths Cascade beer. I had to taste it so I paid and went over. I took one small sip….piss (literally) and threw it in the garbage. He had two jars of hops…he said “those are the hops”….they were awfully brown looking and stale. I picked up a jar and smelt them…NOTHING!...I was shocked…I have never had hops that smelled of nothing. I said “they are really stale and old”, he said, “you are right, sounds like you know your hops”…I said “I do”. I left.

I went home for a nice evening with my sexy wife. Masi wasn’t doing it for us like it used to. OK’ish. I scuffled around and poured from a keg that wasn’t ready for the keezer, but it was nice warm, really nice. I put a pitcher in the freezer to cool a bit. Kathleen said she was trying to finish her Masi, so she could get on with the beer. We gave up on the wine.

It’s tough being a home brewer.

In the immortal words of Mick Jagger, Anyone else “can’t get no satisfaction?” I have a bottle of Masi left as a prize for the best post :) and I’ll deliver it personally (or maybe get Chalmers to deliver it LOL).

I had a great brew night. Making my "100 year IPA" for the Big Spruce comp
Beer fridge is full with about 200 more bottled waiting for their turn in the fridge.
I have lager in the chamber, a very delicious smelling chocolate milk stout that is ready to bottle next week, and the ipa that I brewed last night is very active in the bucket.

Life is good at the moment. (homebrew wise)

Cheers to you brother

Gotta say I'm satisfied - Adaptation IPA on tap made with cascade and Amarillo, grain ready for an early morning brew, getting ready to measure out the hops for tomorrow's brew, and a bit of hockey on the tube. Feels like a great Saturday.

Leafman, you're nor helping here either. Help me with my misery...actually the misery has passed. I have some chilled home brew and it's helping with my foray into the outside world....helping quite a bit. The post was written in a bit of a panic...just like keithforbes and the kegging disaster. It's so nice when we help each other when we are in trouble...but I'm just not getting it from you guys (especially YOU, after I became a Leafs supporter and all on your behalf)..."just can't get ANY satisfaction'"...anywhere :( I even offered up a bottle of wine for a good commiseration :(

If only I had known I would have set you up! We do sell growlers of some decent stuff, I have a stash of 'special' stuff out back sometimes (like today), and Premier just got a fresh load of tweaked Uncle Leo's IPA in :cheers2:

I feel your pain. Been there many times. MANY.

That's more the ticket Greg. So far you are the winner of the Masi :rockin: and you can keep it for emergencies, when you have a sexy girl around and no beer.

That was half the problem...having a pint of your Fathom at lunch, and coming home to nothing :)...we had an awesome day...I'm just half kidding about this.

Mark, here's a story to help soothe the rough day.

My partner and I brew everything together. We've got a bunch of things lined up to go (some FestaBrew, some wine kits, some cider kits, and the much anticipated jump into both extract brewing and kegging). And just as we started getting things going, she cut her finger tip off with a mandoline slicer. Her finger tip has been reattached, but, she's not only been off work, she also can't do much of anything, let alone brew. To add to this, we've run out of all the beer we had bottled. We've been supplementing with local stuff from Paddys. Good excuse to try something new, but longing to do more brewing.

Hope this helps! ;)

EDIT: I just noticed time stamp on your post seems to be from May...yet this came up as a new post on here for me? Confused. Perhaps your bad day is long-gone, or the time stamps are messed up. Hmm. Either way, the story stands.

No, it's today, and that's just another unsatisfactory thing. I'm sorry to hear about your partner....there's a bottle of Masi on the way to you guys. :(

pm me your address please and we'll both come by and deliver the wine and some beer also. You must live nearby if you are are getting stocked up from Paddy's...anyone else want to help out? Jeff's imperial stout (HPhunter) would help with all your troubles. That stuff is awesome!

Greg Nash is pretty good at brewing beer...he'll be OK,

I'm Drowning sorrows with barrel aged Russian imperial stout myself tonight.
Buried in paperwork, teething baby, horny wife, and an unfinished brewhouse.
Yuuuup. Down but not out, whenever your knackered for beer let me know. Misery loves company. :drunk: :mebeer: :cheers2:

Tell Karl he needs to do a better job of getting his beer in the local bars. Had to drink macro at The Dock on Wednesday. Was a free work event, could have sold the place out....

Just an fyi, I run a "beer for the beerless homebrewer" program.

If anyone local is ever in bad way when it comes to beer. Let me know, I always have lots to share, just replace when your pipeline is flowing again. Like your fridge is empty, or all of your beer is bottled but not carb'd.

Only rule is, you have to tell me that my beer was the best you've ever tasted. :spilly:

Kathleen and I met Kirsten (redoubt) and her partner Keely (redoubt too, they are a team) tonight at Paddy’s to hand over the commiserative bottle of Masi and home brew (as promised). They are enthustastic brewers, and beer people, and new to the Brewnosers. It was great meeting you guys (girls), and we had a great time. Nice to meet some local beer people. We had a great evening. Actually they came back to see my setup and still here drinking the beer.

Welcome to the Brewnosers, and hope to see you again soon. :rockin:

They live right by you in Cambridge JPHunter. Keely's finger is healing up, so they can get back to brewing.

They are still here...laugh a minute, not much beer left. What's your phone # jacinthebox. Do you deliver?
