Who's taken a look at
PicoBrew?
Apparently they have a kickstarter (about to expire! get on board now!) It's amazing how they've managed to get some 400 people to pay $1300-$1600 for a product completely untested in the marketplace. And it isn't even a complete solution: it mashes and (doesn't quite) boils, but there's no control for the fermentation process. Interesting, though how they believe it isn't really necessary to boil the wort.

I heard about it a few weeks ago for the first time and was a bit skeptic. It's neat in theory, but ultimately if you're that lazy, why not just buy beer at the store? haha. They were talking about it on the most recent episode the the Brewing Network Sunday Session and had a good discussion. Apparently they're going to try and interview the creator in an upcoming episode.

Good point Jamie, why not just buy beer. Derek, it does sound like it might make a good berliner weisse with no boil and uncontrolled fermentation

It's a cool idea, but I can't get a handle on who the customer would be.
As a homebrewer I think it would feel like I wasn't involved, and the efficiency numbers are not good.
Maybe people who don't know much about home brewing? I'd be pretty pissed... $1500 goes a long way in brewing.

I'm not really sure who the target audience would be either. If I had to choose, I'd much rather have a Braumeister. Although neither appeal to me.

Did anyone else actually watch that video? Some fuck face on there said "theres no art in scrubbing out a brew pot. Theres no art in sitting in front of a crab cooker reading a book." Did he just reduce what we do to scrubbing a pot and reading a book! What art is there in loading a mini dish washer with grain and hops and pushing a fucking button! Fuck that guy!
