This year's brew is a Weißbier. No other details that I've seen yet.

glad to see they announced it earlier.

last years comp having the judge said "you should have made multiple batches" and "enter your best". needless to say they gave people less than three months to get their stuff together and have the beer age, which is extremely important for belgians.

"A König Ludwig Weißbier [available from the NSLC] is a prime example of what our expert panel will be looking for in a Weizen!"

Isn't könig ludwig Weißbier more of the 16A style? Belgian rather than German?

No clue. I'm quoting Garrison's twitter feed.

Nope I was wrong. That example is German. So yeah BJCP 15A. I thought they just did that style a few years ago.

Anyone know if partial grain submissions are accepted? Not setup yet for All Grain but would love to get a feel for comps.

AFAIK, yes. They would be eliminating a significant portion of the Noble Grape (beer) customer base otherwise.

As Jimmy noted, this isn't brand new news, but glad they are posting it up again to encourage folks to brew a couple of times to dial in their systems. I encourage everyone to enter, cheap for what you get. The feedback doesn't always jive with reality, but at least it's an impartial person tasting and giving notes.

This is where the new BJCP guys need to get in on judging.

Bewarned, this is my first attempt at my own recipe. Hope you are ready for the most dreadful (or possibly amazing) beer you ever drink. As a note. If I can't stomach it, I'll feed it to the drain. :chug: :barf2:

In past years would you guys say that they hold tight to the BJCP guidelines in judging or are they just looking for an interesting beer they can sell?

I think fairly close, though one of the finalists for Rye IPA was actually a Rye and Ginger beer. I'd stick with a traditional Weissbier this time around, as they've been encouraging folks to buy traditional commercial examples to get an idea of the style.
