I think it's a pretty cool idea. The ability to take it all apart is appealing to me. Plus, I think it would be a hell of a lot easier to built ultimately than a regular coiled CF chiller.

I've thought about building something like that but out of copper. And a fair bit bigger.

With the inside being copper, what advantage would it be to make the exterior out of copper?

Also, I was thinking of having a continuous slope from start to finish, which is easier to do with copper, unless you made one long chiller, which I also considered...

Sloping would be helpful.. It would be great to run it off gravity.

The idea of being able to mount it on a wall is pretty cool.

How do you clean and sanitize those kind of things? and is it worth the trouble of doing that versus wort chiller. There are some, (no-chillers) who wouldn't understand something like that at all.

Only asking so I can consider my options in an informed way. It seems like a good idea, but I'm trying to get my head around it.

My thought would be to visually look down the pipes and run a brush if need be. Also easier to build.

I'd sanitize that the way I sanitize every other chiller I've had. Hot water/hot wort recirced to kettle before chilling. Can't beat heat....

I'm more thinking if you began having infection issues, it would be easy to take it apart and reassure yourself that it's not the chiller. I'm a visual type person. I get nervous when I can't look at things haha.

Couldn't help but think this (posted by someone else earlier) is relevant here: http://halifax.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-sell ... Z519486408" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It would be tricky to convert that I think. Plus copper has better heat transfer.

Yeah. I looked up the thermal conductivity values of stainless vs. copper after posting. I was surprised. I knew copper was better, but not *that* much better.

Yeah it's a pretty poor conductor relatively speaking.
