Getting the thermometer upright on a welded fitting
I'm just using a 15 gallon OBK pot that I got for Christmas for the first time tonight. The thermometer is damn near upside down when I tighten it up. I'm guessing if I put some additional teflon tape on there that might make it tighten up sooner... Anyone else have a suggestion?

Nope. That's your solution, other than a lot of force, or tap/die. Some of those thermometers have rotating faces though, but maybe not those ones.

I had the same issue and i fixed it by simply starting the insert at a different position until it wasn't upside down/

They don't seem to rotate at all. Kind of annoying. Ill try and see if the thread starts in a second place and if not, tape it up.

The thread will only start in one place.

There should be enough play between tight enough, and won't turn anymore, so you can stop with the thermometer upright.

I've got the same pot and about 6-8 wrappings of Teflon tape got me a leak proof seal while leaving the thermometer upright.

I found it was swing around too much when I tried that. Unless you mean the difference between tight and really tight. That's about a quarter turn and not enough to save me from being almost entirely upside down!Jimmy wrote:There should be enough play between tight enough, and won't turn anymore, so you can stop with the thermometer upright.
