Just curious if anyone has attempted this as a clone recipe. Me and my friends really love the stuff and I'd love to make it my house IIPA. I know the recipe details are on the Garrison website, I'm just curious to see if anyone has tried to make it...

Garrison IIPA clone?
Nova Prime Taproom
Tap 1: Festa Brew Scotch Ale
Tap 2:
"Fill with mingled cream and amber,
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chamber of my brain -
Quaintest thoughts - queerist fancies
Come to life and fade away;
What care I how time advances?
I am drinking ale today." ~ Poe

I have tried a couple of times but I just can't get that stinging hop bite. I think using the the magnum for bittering is essential. Higher cohumulone may contribute to the harsher bitterness.

As an aside I notice you're from Port Hawkesbury. I grew up in Isle Madame and my wife is from Port Hastings. I actually taught at SAERC for a while. We live in Westville now thoughspears104 wrote:I have tried a couple of times but I just can't get that stinging hop bite. I think using the the magnum for bittering is essential. I think Nash detailed this in an old mail list message. I'll see if I can dig it up, or maybe he'll chime in when he sees this.

At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter.

Good to know. Not many homebrewers or beer enthusiasts around here.jtmwhyte wrote:As an aside I notice you're from Port Hawkesbury. I grew up in Isle Madame and my wife is from Port Hastings. Just having one of these now. Did this beer get toned down? Does not seem to bee the hop monster it once was.

Re: Garrison IIPA clone?
I thought it seemed a little lacking the last time I had one, a few weeks ago.
