A few post bottling questions

Hello fellow Brewnosers!

I've just finished bottling my 2nd batch of homebrew (been brewing Festa Brew Pale ale, the first batch was so good even after 2 weeks in bottles that I just had to start a second one!)

Now I am quite satisfied with my first batch so really I was just planning to hope the 2nd came out just as good but I did have a few questions. The guy at my local brew it shop told me that I should have my bottles at room temperature for a few weeks before putting them in my basement and it would speed up carbonation. My first batch I just put directly in the basement, that is probably in around the 17 deg range. The carbonation is not too bad, but he mentioned that maybe I should move them upstairs for a few weeks.

Now my question is do you guys think that at this time it would be worth anything to bring my first batch upstairs? Also now that I have a 2nd batch I'm actually going to be leaving for close to a month, and I don't know if I should keep my beer upstairs that will probably get to the 25-30+ Deg range during the warm days of July, or should I just put it downstairs where it might be 17 now, but will probably go up to normal 23-24 degree range during the warm summer days.

I'm also wondering about what are the chances of my bottles exploding? I'm thinking there is more chances of this happening if the room is real warm than if I would put them in my basement

I'd likely leave them downstairs. 17 deg should be plenty warm for the yeast to be active and carbonate in the bottles. You're also better off storing them in the cooler temperature after carbonation, rather than upstairs in the higher temps.

The warmer temps would speed up carbonation, but it's not the best storage conditions long-term

FWIW, all the carbing I do is done in the basement, ranging from 16 to 20 degrees depending on the season. I always found 3 weeks to be the best time for the carbing.
