TRVE Brewing Co. (and no I didn't spell the name wrong). Pronounced "true," the self proclaimed brewery is the only "true heavy metal brewery" in Denver. Their Black IPA, "Black Cascade" is a favorite of mine but if you like white IPA or a white belgium I recommend their "Diotima." They make a salt beer "Prehistoric Dog". Its salty and low in alcohol. I don't recommend starting your sampling off with it and definitely only order it in a 1/2 pint or less. The brewer is originally from Canada and a real smart likable guy. He is always in the brewery hanging out, meeting beer lovers, and answering any beer question asked. Prost to TRVE.

My son and his pint... He jumped up on the couch and said "this is same real good boys beer right dad!" although it smells suspiciously like apple juice...must be infected.

Dogfish Head 90 Minute Imperial IPA. I've never had a Dogfish Head until last week but I'm picking up some kind of common character in everything I've had so far. Something herbal?? Maybe it's the doggie yeast or a certain hop I am not familiar with. Drinking beer is the best education I've ever had. Hahaha!

DFH uses Vanguard hops quite a bit I think. They're somewhat noble and earthy. Perhaps that's what you're picking up.

Thanks! Whatever it is I like it. I don't think I've had that before or at least didn't know it. Are Vanguard hops hard to get around here?

I haven't looked in a while, but I've bought them online in Canada in the past.

I had kinda given up on brewing IPAs but this beer has got me itching to try again and aim for that big malty body.
