Raspberry Wheat FestaBrew Kit - Primary only?

Post by BenFrank » Thu May 23, 2013 11:08 am

Long time no post fellas.

I picked up a Raspberry Wheat FestaBrew Kit from Nobal Grape the other day.

It's the Festa Brew Wheat kit with a Raspberry Purée Can included for $49

I'm normally doing primary only beers these days, mainly because I'm lazy. But I understand adjuncts like fruit are normally added in a secondary...

Can I just pour the wort and purée into my primary, pitch the yeast like normal and bob's your uncle?

I'd really like something similar to Garrison's Raspberry Wheat, you can really taste the fruit in those and they make a great summer beer...

Will the fruit flavour still be as pronounced if I skip secondary?

Thanks guys!

For fruit I would use secondary, if you really want to use primary only, wait until primary fermentation is complete before you add the purée. Otherwise you will loose some fruit flavour and aroma in the fermentation.

Fermenting: Oud bruin/Vienna Pekko SMaSH
On tap: Nelson dry hopped Berliner/ Scottish Heavy 70-/ NE IPA
