O.K. guys I am going to buy a burner for doing some 10g brews. I know the Blichmann is nice, but what are my other options. I'm looking for something with some balls, and I can make a stand for it.

Obviously most homebrewers have already done this research.
Thanks in advance.

I'd been looking at those as well, but with shipping, it ends up being cheaper to buy the Blichmann one at NG.

At almost 3 times the power, I am leaning towards the Bayou. I may have other uses for it in the future.

With all your electric gear, why not go electric?

Versatility. Looking to loan my buddy my gear so he can learn to brew. I'm looking to do some small batches of different beers also.

how much of the heat is wasted with something like that? Is it like having a 350 horsepower civic? I'm in the market as well so any glimpses into reliability and performance is great.

I have one from Canadian Tire that's 41,000 BTUs and it works just fine and it comes with a 36-quart pot as well. It's not the highest-quality burner but I've gotten a lot of good use out of it so far:

There's also this one from Home Hardware that looks pretty sturdy and has a bit more power (65,000 BTUs):

It might be worth checking with restaurant supply store like Big Eric's.

I went with the Blichman after my Turkey Fryer burner quit on me last month. It's a nice piece of kit.

Keggel for a pot and +100k burner. You can easily weld or weld less a ball valve.

I ordered the Bayou one.
Thanks X for the link.
$217.43 with shipping and tax.
I also may use it on a much larger scale to heat water for cleaning, etc. That's why I wanted one with some balls.

Hope I'm not flogging a dead horse here but I'm curious how you guys are making out with your Blichmann and/or Bayou burners. In the market and am having trouble justifying a $200 price tag when there are $60 ~60k BTU burners out there. Sell me!
Thanks for any thoughts, I appreciate it.

My Bayou likes her propane. Massive heat though. Probably to big for most homebrewers. Its hard to get it turned down enough for the boil.

I love my Blichmann, but it is built for efficient heating of flat bottom pots rather than keggles. Clean flame, no soot at all.

I like my KAB6 but like I just mentioned in another post it is a beast and hard on propane. Glad Costco sells propane cheap. You have to turn the propane on slow or it trips the emergency shut of valve and you get a small flame. Due to the 30 psi regulator the propane tank can freeze as well and cause a low flame. Fix is to have another tank on hand. It is allot of fun to use.
