Stainless Steel Pot Suggestions

Did our first all grain on the weekend. It was quite the s%*t show but was great fun all the same. And the beer will be just fine...I hope. One of the kinks we need to work out is in regards to our brew pot. We are doing the cooler mash ton method (still don't have the lingo down). When we went back to our 7.5 gallon brew pot for the boil, after the first hop addition it was major boil over. Not to mention the fact that we really need the second pot anyways. Any suggestions for places to get a good simple 10 gallon (or slightly larger) stainless steel pot (not interested in aluminum) that is a good price. I've looked at OntarioBeerKegs but don't need the couplings...yet. Thinking to get the 40 quart one from noble that is $80, but want to know if there might be a better option you folks are aware of.
Thanks, Scott

Even if you're not looking for the couplings, I'd go with the OBK one. The price is great on that pot, and the extra 5 gallons allows for larger batches in the future.

Plus, the couplings increase the resale value AFAIAC.

And locate some FermcapS for controlling your boil overs. It works Amazing.

i think the guiding hand was the problem..............
the pre boil vol was the full capacity of the pot nothing would have really prevented the boil over except no addition of heat...... wait that happened!
but yes the beer will be wicked!!

Go with the pot with couplings - and a couple of plugs for now.

Couplings for future-proofing would be nice. However, wouldn't I then need fittings now just so that I could use the pot. Or do they come with "caps"?

Plugs and caps are between $3 and $4 from OBK in their stainless section.

but if you were going to spend that on a cap the valve would likely be worth it
if you are ever doing a boil with that much again, just take some off in a kitchen stock pot, and add it back into the the boil as the wort level drops.

As you folks predicted, even after some additional research, I'm about to submit the order to Ontariobeerkegs for the 15 gal pot. Anyone have experience with the probe Thermometers that attach to the pipe thread opening? I'm thinking the 2 inch one just so that it doesn't get in the way. Don't see any reason why it would be a an issue, but I thought I'd ask in case someone wants to add their 2 cents.

I use a 2.5" probe thermometer in my OBK pot. Works good..I still use a digital thermometer for my exact measurements though.

I have the 2 inch probe thermometer on my kettle and it works very well, usually get very comparable readings on it and my digital thermometer (less than 1 degree difference). I would think that the 6 inch probe would be in the way if you use an immersion chiller.
