If you could get your homegrown hops tested for approximate AA% would you do it? How much would you be willing to pay?

Nothing. Get hops über cheap on the group buys from manufacturers that have extremely detailed AA testing/measuring.

Well you have the price we are willing to pay ( cheep cheep ) so you can do this for us free?

To get %AA as accurately as commercial hops would need a uv spec that costs (cheap) about two thousand. There is a titration that can be done that would be more crude, lumping the alpha and beta acid together. I've never done it but I see some people have on the net,and the cost to do it would be very cheap. I don't know how useful that would be though. Would have to test it out on some commercial strains first.

Ok so I am tire of paying too much for hops, 6 oz cost me $16 the other day. What time of year are the group buys going in. I don't check the board all that often.

I'd check the group buy section for the ncm and hop contract orders

Jeez, an order from Hops Direct would be cheaper than $16 for 6 Oz for sure, especially if you order multiple pounds.

The titration method is garbage. Even the UV spec method is dicey without suitable replication. The HPLC method is the best. We will do it in our lab for free if you are a grower. There is a guy in Bathurst at the community college, Kevin Sheil, that will do it for $30.
