Grain mill roller issue

For some reason the second roller on my barley crusher (the one not attached to the drill) doesnt seem to want to spin. The last few batches I've constantly had to remove the grain and re add it, and then the grain would catch and get milled. It's getting really frustrating. Took me 30 min to crush grain yesterday when normally it take a few min.

Is this a sign that I need to lube up the rollers?

Does it spin freely with no grain, when you move it manually?
If so, probably not roller/bearing, but the mill gap is too tight. What is it set to?
LD's does the same thing when set too tight. Instead of emptying the hopper, try reversing the drill for a few seconds, and then back the correct way. Or else move it manually until it catches some grain, and then get the drill going.

I've also had the idle roller not move when the gap was too tight.

Mine rolled fine before I attached it to the cabinet I made for it, but was tight afterwards. I attribute that to the pre-drilled holes not being totally lined up and slightly racking the frame.

I suppose I should fix that before a wear the bearings funnny

We've had problems with anything below 0.76mm (= 0.030").

ok thanks. im suprized it lets you go below that if there are issues. ill bring the rollers back up and see how it works. it would be better if both rollers were controlled by the drill.

I think some mills are made like that and probably cost more.

Sent from the brew timer.

Not too many suppliers gear the rollers together IIRC. I think it makes it more difficult to have adjustable gaps.
