I use it and like it. What do you mean by get around it?

They plan on releasing a full version that allows you to create a recipe directly on your device..

Have you tried using dropbox as your "cloud service"?

So that works? How do you move files around on your android?

I'm not sure if it just shows up as another folder or not but on the desktop it's like that. I know some apps support dropbox directly so I'm not sure. There's another recipe app for android that supports beersmith or beer xml and dropbox so people just save their recipes from Beersmith into their dropbox and open them up on the phone. I haven't tried this with the Beersmith app though (I don't have it).

OK. I installed DB, but when I click on my .bsmx file, it says to download an app that can open it, but I already did that....

This thing is fucked. When I open downloads from my system menu, it says empty, but when I search the filesystem using the usb connection from my computer, I see the .bsmx file i downloaded from dropbox....so basically, I can't tell you until I find the fucking file. grrrrrrrrrr

Yes to be quite honest I didn't care for Beersmith for my droid phone. Not enough functionality built into it. I've been sticking with BrewMate which is a free recipe designer on my computer. Can be found at http://www.brewmate.net/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and is pretty decent, plus they have a really good recipe database.

It appears this was a waste of 4 dollars and 1 hour. Like a bottled water at dirty nelly's.

Well, it appears that you have to import the beersmith files through their cloud service. I can live with that for now, but not so happy about it.

So if I understand correctly, I can create my recipe in Beersmith as usual, upload to cloud service (for free.. as I already own Beersmith?) and then download a $4 app (or a free 'lite version'?) that will let me view that recipe on my phone? Why wouldn't I just save the recipe as a text file on my phone (or in Dropbox, which is what I do now) to view the recipe on my phone?

You only get 15 recipes free on the cloud.

Hmm.. it all adds up I guess. I mean can't fault the guy for trying to make a buck, he is putting a fair amount of work into this.

One could always just keep the more recent recipes on the cloud, the ones you want to use while brewing, or bring up when somebody asks what was in a particular recent beer.

The timer does look fairly handy, worth $4 I'm sure.

That's what I will do, upload recipes for brewday.

That's all I've been doing. It takes 10 seconds to add a recipe to the cloud, and I'm never needing to look at more than 15 recipes at once...

It just pisses me off. Reminds me of Apple's proprietary money grubbing ways..... :horse: :lolno:
