Hi Guys,

Getting ready to brew the classic styles recipe for bohemian pilsener and I am curious about adding some melanoidin malt to the grain bill as I have some that I would like to use up, and a recent pod cast that I heard suggested it as a good idea.

Any thoughts on if you guys think this is a good idea, and what the amount to add would be?

Thanks,

Rick

I think it would be good. I'd use 5-7%.

It makes sense to me, a lot of pilseners are made with a decoction mash, and melanoidin malt is a good way to fake it.

I just mashed in and used 3% Melanoidin malt. I will see how it goes and go from there. I smelled it and it really has a strong smell.
