Kegging stuff

Post by mathieu » Sat Oct 06, 2012 1:22 pm

Hi folks!

I was wondering where you bought/found your kegging equipment. I'm using bottles for now but I guess in a few months (or week) I'll switch to kegs.

Enjoy the loooooong weekend! ;)

I picked mine up full price at noble grape when I first started kegging...you can usually find it on kijiji for a decent price, or check out ontariobeerkegs.com

Got mine from a buddy getting out of the hobby. Then added equipment through group buys and stuff here.

I sourced my kegs locally and purchased the rest of the gear (taps, shanks, disconnects, etc) from http://www.ihomebrewing.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. Bryan's service is fantastic. You also can't go wrong with OntarioBeerKegs either.

Quick note or I guess bitch on OntarioBeerKegs.

I have ordered a few kegging things from them without issue but the last two kegs they shipped me were terrible. One had gross, sticky, hardened wine (I am guessing) on the bottom; which took about a week of starsan soaking and rinsing to clean......it reeked like death when I opened it for the first time. The second had a noticeable bend in the metal (on the keg) around the top cap and thus would not pressurize, of course it arrived without any gas to seal it. With some light hammer work and a new seal, the keg has been fixed but it still annoyed me that they didn't even check either of these kegs before shipping.

A cranky email was sent to their customer service a few months ago but nothing back from them. Not saying that I wouldn't buy from them again, just throwing the QC warning out there.

Sorry to hear about the bad experience with OBK. Patrick is active on here, so maybe a PM or post in his Vendor sub-forum will get his attention, especially if it was a few months ago.
