WLP005 vs WLP007

Post by Graham.C » Mon Aug 20, 2012 8:36 am

Anyone have any experience contrasting these two strains? I think WLP005 is white lab's ringwood. As far as I can tell WLP007 is just a more attenuating version of it, but I would love to hear comments from people who have used both.

WLP007 is supposedly the same as Wyeast 1098 - sourced from Whitbread. It's obviously highly attenuating, but I've only used 1098 a couple times.

WLP007 is also Stone's house yeast strain. I've only used it once on a Stone Levitation clone. I was pretty happy with how it turned out, highly attenuating as already mentioned and very clean/low esters.
