Busy Weekend (now with video)

Post by GillettBreweryCnslt » Sun Jun 10, 2012 7:36 pm

Phew! I just cleaned up from my 5th 5 gallon batch this weekend. Man, I'm pooped (cause of course I had to do the other designated weekend chores as well). Here's the list:

Ginger Beer (standard old version that always works)
Hangin' Johnny Irish Red Clone(Thanks to Liverdance for the recipe)
Old Ale (trying to clone an old ale from a brewpub in Peterborough, ON)
Wheat (will become a blackberry wheat)
Nut Brown (this is the one I brew and consume the most...but still tinkering with it)

The crazy thing was I hit my OG in every single one of them. And the only thing that would've made it faster would be a maid service.

Can't wait to taste these ones! :spilly:

Best way to do brewing get it all done in a weekend. Good work and a nice list of beers as well.

That's a busy weekend alright.
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter. :wtf:

So 24 hours after pitching the yeast in the Irish Red, this is what's going on. It was bubbling like this for the 3 hours or so before the video and when I woke up this morning it was still going (but with slightly less fervor). Needless to say shortly after this vid I put blow-off tubes in all three carboys! The yeast was a second generation wyeast Irish ale (1084) that I had made a 1 litre starter with 48h before. I split the starter and this batch received 500ml of it. If you listen closely you can hear the sounds of all the airlocks bubbling away, music to my ears!

Man, 5 batches makes my 2 batches this weekend seem like nothing. Nice work!
