Anyone know where is the best place to get flaked wheat for a wit?

I think NG carries it. How much of a difference would 'torrified' wheat/puffed wheat from the grocery store make (cheaper and readily available in this part of the word)?

Speerville has some excellent flaked wheat, organic and fairly cheap (less $4/kilo) http://www.speervilleflourmill.ca/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Organic stores might be a good place. Planet organic has lots of stuff here in hfx. I've used the hard red wheat berries and was happy with them.

That's a good call. I might use that and save the trouble of hunting down the flaked stuff. I'll be in the city tomorrow so if I see any I'll pick it up. Otherwise torrified it is. As I recall from reading (not practice), it works well. Anyone have any opinions on it?

I used whole bag of OIO flaked wheat. Really brought down my efficiency, but otherwise was good flavour.

I had the same efficiency issue the one time I used it. I know it doesn't have to be crushed, but I've read where some people actually put it through their mill once, to break it down more.

Anyone have any experience with this?

I used wheat berries from the bulk barn once. The beer turned out nice, but it was too much of a pain to mill it. The drill I used wasn't strong enough, so I had to do it by hand, and I ended up having to run it through twice to break it down. I'm not doing that again, I'll just spring for the flakes.
