Reusing older washed yeast

So I'm going to be brewing up another batch of a Dogfish Head 60 Min IPA clone in the next week or so. In my fridge I have about 150ml of washed yeast that I harvested from my first attempt at this brew (harvest date Feb 29, 2012). I'd like to reuse this yeast for this next batch. Estimated OG is 1.070. Mr. Malty calculator tells me I need 1331ml (10% viability) to have enough (289 billion cells)...If you were brewing this ...how would you go about making sure you had enough yeast? Should I make a starter now and keep stepping it up over the next week or so?

Are you sure your viability is that low (10%)? I've always had success with a 1 or 1.5L starter with about that much slurry for moderate gravity brews (1.060 - 1.070).

no I don't...I'm just going by what the Mr Malty calculator is reporting when I plug my numbers in.

If it was me, I'd just dump the 150ml in a 1.5L starter and go with that.

I'd tend to agree.

Unless you are certain that you have exactly 10.00% viability there's no point in being as precise as 1331 ml. Aim for one litre.
