What to look for in Corney Kegs

I'm looking to put together a Keg system, and I'm hunting down the components. I've never dealt with Corney kegs before and I was wondering if anyone has anything specific that I should be on the lookout for? The prices I've seen also seem to vary widely, does anyone have any suggestions what a reasonable price for a Cornie keg is? Thanks!

If you have time, I'd hold out for $30 or under. I've paid as little as $10 and as high as $59.99...

Try to make sure your keg holds pressure before buying it. I replaced all my o-rings when I first got mine also.

Other things that should be on your list for a corny keg set-up.
- A CO2 bottle. 5 lb is just right, 10 lb is ok
- A regulator to adjust keg pressure.

I got my three kegs from the local fire department for $10 each (You have to "know the guy" to get a deal like this.) The only thing I would do different is try to grab the newer looking ones. If you are buying one that was used for pop you will need to change all of the o-rings.

One thing that confused me before I bought keg was pin lock (coke) kegs vs. ball lock (pepsi) kegs. Now, I don't think it make any difference which one you get (I only have ball lock kegs) but it might make your life a little bit easier to just buy one type. That's because they take different connections for your CO2 and beer lines.

Not sure what others think of these price-wise, but Ontario Beer Kegs sells everything you need in their starter kits.

I use pin-locks as well. Wortly has ball-locks. So you'll need a temperature controller for your freezer. I've wired/assembled 3 of these aquarium controllers and can give you a hand. They can also be used as a fermentation controller, which I do with my 2nd one.

We could even organize a group order from eBay soon because I need to order at least one already and we could save on shipping. Here is the seller we've dealt with before.
