Re: Is Everwood gone for good?
A friend of mine and I have done a few orders from East Coast Hoppers over the last several months. Hops mainly as EW would be out of some.
We've been impressed with the variety, stock levels, and if they don't have it, tells you before you finalize order. Shipping to NS is reasonable for pricing, and fast. Ordered Sat, $12-13 shipping cost, had it Wednesday. When ordering 8-10lbs, the shipping cost doesn't seem to add much per pound.
Their yeast selection online seems reasonable as well. Not sure of stock levels, I did try for a liquid yeast in last order, but they didn't have it.
OBK also said they are going to be running some sales coming up. I took part in last one because EW was closed. Ordered Sunday, received Thursday via FedEx Ground. The FedEx was $1.50 more than Canada Post, well worth it. Canada Post is your typically poorly run government company. You certainly don't get what you pay for! That's my dig on them...
Sure hoping EW comes back in some capacity, it was great to be able to stop by (before COVID) and pickup what you just realized you needed.

Don't forget about Hammerhead. We have plenty of hops in stock and contactless pickup in Halifax most days of the week. Shipping options are available too. We have 15 varieties at the moment and can get more from our suppliers in short order.

Oh yeah, I forgot guys! I've also gotten hops from you guys. Both from you and Everwood.
What's the local pickup option? Your place in Halifax? Any set times? Or just make an appointment?
I've been please with a the few varieties I got from you.

No set times for pickup but almost anytime by appointment can work. The hops are stored at my place in West End Halifax but I can meet in Sackville too.

Any recommendations for CO2 tank refills in HRM?AllanMar wrote: ↑Thu May 07, 2020 12:26 pmEverwood was my go to, to be honest the only thing comparable is really OBK (online/shipping) in my opinion.
I've done Noble Burnside curbside a couple times now and it's been great.
For me if Everwood doesnt return it will probably be
HOPS - Northwest Hop farms (online)
Grains - Noble (Burnside)
Hardware/Misc - OBK (online)
Yeast - This is tricky, but OBK is probably the best option given Noble's more limited selection.

Re: Is Everwood gone for good?
Noble for swaps. Check out the CO2 thread here for fills. Don Breton probably best bet in Halifax, I used Simplex/Johnson in Burnside when I don’t swap.PBC wrote:Any recommendations for CO2 tank refills in HRM?AllanMar wrote: ↑Thu May 07, 2020 12:26 pmEverwood was my go to, to be honest the only thing comparable is really OBK (online/shipping) in my opinion.

Just drove by td. Has a sign on the door saying closed because of covid 19, until further notice. Commercial orders are still being shipped.
Odd thing to me is that the everwood sign is ripped down.

I’ve had some contact with Dave. He’s planning to be back at some point down the road. No specific timeline that know.

Did he mention anything about filling orders that were made or doing refunds? Really not looking to go through my credit card to stop payment or anything but I haven't gotten a response from them.Juniper Hill wrote: ↑Wed May 13, 2020 8:34 amI’ve had some contact with Dave. We didn’t specifically discuss anything about outstanding orders. I can’t really be of much help there.

Has been a thing for a few years but it'll be interesting since he mentions homebrewing a couple of times. Curious if that will be in addition to the brewery installs.

I would be interested in a bulk grain but soon. Has anyone tried OBK for hops? They have a decent by the lb selection.

Re: Is Everwood gone for good?
OBK is great for hops IMO, they only sell the pre-packaged nitrogen flushed hops I believe, so some consider that a plus.
If your willing to buy by the 8oz/lb I like northwesthopfarms.com due to the impressive selection/prices. They seem to be a bit delayed but i placed an order 28Apr, it shipped Canada Post May4 and Delivered May 15th.
My Purolator OBK (not their fault) order has been stuck in Toronto for almost 10days now..

Some good prices there! Now I just have to figure out which ones I would use the most. I'm only doing small batches and don't use a whole lot.

Check out the Group Buy section, we have a grain buy starting up.NovaJeff wrote:I would be interested in a bulk grain but soon. Has anyone tried OBK for hops? They have a decent by the lb selection.
As for hops I usually organize group buy each February with lots of variety and decent prices. Otherwise try Northwest Hop Farms in B.C. has good selection.

I drove by Everwood this week and took a peak inside. All their product is still there, just the sign is off. That is a good sign to me.

Re: Is Everwood gone for good?
I've just placed an order for 2 all grain clone kits from Eastcoasthoppers.
Was $22 shipping (Canada post-Expidited) from PEI. (I'm in Dartmouth)
NG in Burnside is great but there is about 5 days right now for curbside and have limited hops varieties.
I'll be curious to see how long it takes to get here.

Re: Is Everwood gone for good?
I ordered dry yeast and some flavouring extract from OBK on the 8th, it arrived yesterday. I consider that to be a lickety-split delivery, considering the current situation.
