Thinking this might be a good alternative to an auto-siphon. I already have the smaller version of the auto-siphon (3/8"?).. and I've heard the 1/2" is much faster. This is local, and looks quite sturdy. Planning on using this with a copper/stainless racking cane with a stainless scrubby on the end to siphon out of my keggle (after some manual labour whirlpooling possibly). Would also provide faster racking into the kegs which would be nice.

Thoughts?

It costs about twice the auto-siphon and may not be made of food grade plastic. Without being able to see into the chamber it may be difficult to keep clean. Otherwise it looks as if it would work adequately.

Good points Kyle.. hmm, may not be ideal. I can probably find out what it is made of, but if it doesn't 'come apart' then I may not bother as I'll never 'really' know if it is clean.

I guess I'll go back to my stainless/copper 1/2" racking cane and standard tube + vacuum pump starter method (thinking of a converted 12V car tire pump.. per http://www.instructables.com/id/convert ... or-into-a/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ).

I use the orange carboy caps with an AQ pump to get things moving.
