Re: Random brewing pics
After 48 hours of souring in the kettle. Used natural lacto off of the grain and kept warm with a heating pad placed under kettle. Piped in C02 off of a fermenting carboy to blanket the wort. It had a nice tangy taste so I think it worked well. PH is down in low 3's. Now I'm going to ferment with wit yeast and add cherry purée.

Looks good. Would you be able to post a picture of the bottom end of the whirlpool tube in the pot to show orientation and design please. I'm in the process or rigging something up. What kind of pump did you use and did you use 1/2" silicone tubing?LeafMan66_67 wrote:Nice mound of break material and hop debris after whirlpool in the kettle.
Is the upper elbow in the picture the outflow to the whirlpool pump?

Upper elbow is my outflow for whirlpool... it falls just below the top of my wort for a 20L batch. The bottom is just my pickup tube, swung over to the edge of the pot. I can post a pic, but won't be until later tonight.

I thought the vertical copper tube was the inflow, but now it looks more like an ingenious measuring stick?LeafMan66_67 wrote:Upper elbow is my outflow for whirlpool... it falls just below the top of my wort for a 20L batch. Dumping yeast at 3.5*c...
Macmaster Carr Vs Everybody else. I paid a lot for this in a group buy and ended up having to grind it to make it fit.

By myself having an enjoyable brewing day, getting the hang of my new 2 vessel setup. The stainless steel tubing didn’t arrive yet, so I have the old copper coil in the boiling/fermenting pot.

What do you use the coffee cans for. I had thought of this for storage but I worried about the smell leaching.

Using Blichmann gun to quickly bottle up a spare 5 gal of weizen to give away
Hopefully I’ll get the bottles back.
People seem to like it, but there’s only so much bubble-gum, banana, peach and passion fruit flavoured beer a person can drink (I went off style and late hopped with galaxy).
1L SS bottles washed and sanitized in the dishwasher with 1 step. The gun is in a bucket of Starsan. I bottle over the red pot which catches the overflow nicely.

Re: Random brewing pics
Thought some people here might be interested in this. I use a BrewTroller for my brewery so I can log data. Curious about the chiller I took the following during my brew day yesterday.
Especially cold ground water helps, I'll be curious to take some more as the ground water warms up.
Both chilling water (flow is reduced due to the amount of hose it runs thru tho) and pump running full bore. I first recirc to the kettle until the outlet temp is around 70deg then switch the outlet to the bucket. Used 28gal of water according to my lee valley flow meter.

That's currently in the works Andy, but am not expecting any issues. Fortunately, my local municipality is pretty forward thinking and likes to support small businesses.akr71 wrote:...and did the city let you increase your brewing capacity?jeffsmith wrote:Shiny!
