So do you put the bucket in the fridge or do you keg it? How will that last?Jimmy wrote:Becky and I brewed 20 liters of cold brew coffee yesterday.

Bucket at room temp for 24 hours, then transferred to a keg.
From what I've read, a month in the keg shouldn't be an issue.

Re: What's everyone brewing?
Brewing up an american wheat with some oats added in , Amarillo hops and London Ale 3 yeast.
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Citra smash IPA with 2-row. Finally. First brew in the new Grainfather. In fact, first all-grain period. Looking forward to this one...

Made my planned APA. Used a little Warrior for FWH bittering but the rest was all Amarillo. Final volume might be a touch low but otherwise I pretty much my hit all my numbers dead on.

The first all grain batch is always the best! Also don't anticipate on it lasting long haha.Lisa J wrote:Citra smash IPA with 2-row. Finally. First brew in the new Grainfather. In fact, first all-grain period. Looking forward to this one...

Just turn the tap down a bit. While you are recirculating it keep turning the tap down until the temp of the wort coming out the tube starts to rise, then turn the tap back up a smidge. You get maximum chilling for the least amount of water.

Re: What's everyone brewing?
Turns out that there was a few inches of hop sludge on the bottom of the boiler, completely burying the filter and temperature probe. Gave it a bit of a stir and the temp dropped immediately (wort was cool, trub not so much). Tried knocking it out to my primary, but there was zero flow - too much hops. Filter was buried. Literally. Surprised I didn't burn the motor out. Ended up siphoning wort out of the boiler the old fashioned way.Celiacbrew wrote: Just turn the tap down a bit. So, lesson learned: mesh bags for seriously hoppy beers (in this case, between boil and hop stand I had 180g of Citra in that batch.)
I anticipate a slightly smoother experience with next weekend's Berliner Weisse. Only 10g of Mosaic before that one hits the filter. Then more for dry hop...

This weekend I will try a Berliner Weisse with Mosaic dry hop. First attempt at kettle souring. Following Jimmy's guidance:

Check with him to see if he's changed his process any. I believe it's evolved a bit, or his beers have been that much better haha.

I'm brewing with spring water - the well water is a little too harsh. Are most of you adjusting water chemistry? (I'm not that advanced yet!!)

Don't have a brew day scheduled but now I desperately want to because my Amazon order of brew toys came in:

(On a related note, I'll have a refractometer for sale shortly; it's non-ATC but it works fine)
