I never hit my numbers, probably because I don't care too much about that stuff :( . I used to squint and contort my head until the hydrometer reading looked close to where it was supposed to, then I stopped even bothering with measuring the OG, It would be close, whatever, and wouldn't really change anything in my brewing. Now I have a refractometer, and I haven't figured out how to cheat with that thing yet.

I made my hoppiest beer ever this weekend, or it will be once it's dry hopped. It's 11 gallons of American IPA with over 20 oz total of Centennial, Columbus, Amarillo, and since I had some leftovers from this year's harvest, Cascade and Goldings, split over first wort hops, two whirlpool additions, and two dry hoppings.

A big thanks to my hop plants and to Keith for the last OBK hop group buy, because that would have been an expensive beer otherwise.

Grinding grain and making a starter for "Calli" California Common. San Fransisco Lager Yeast WLP810. Does anyone know about fermenting with that yeast?

"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Haha. Yea I haven't been out to Dave's in ages. Just can't justify the drive for a couple packs of yeast. Lol. However building a buddy his kegerator so will be visiting soon, and another trip for my new pot in April.

Have a good brew :cheers2:

I think I've successfully taken over the kitchen. House full of people too, mostly all sleeping, although a couple of kids have appeared. They'll have to cook their breakfast bacon in the oven.
