Double brew day today. And I held off for an hour so I wouldn't freak out the neighbors! Appears I get a downpour every time I venture outside. Oh well. It's only water!canuck wrote:Derek, you're definitely getting an early start!!
I certainly know that all too well.GAM wrote:Younger kids will do that to you.

Nice, what are you brewing today? I brewed a RIS yesterday, and since the weather is going to be shitty all weekend I may brew again today or tomorrow. Was thinking about brewing the Atomic Smashbomb clone.LeafMan66_67 wrote:Double brew day today. And I held off for an hour so I wouldn't freak out the neighbors! I've heard that the flip top bottles may be an issue...the gaskets slipping and gas escaping.glassgiant wrote:Jacinthebox:
Would pasteurization work with flip top bottles, or would they have to be capped?
How many bottles would you guess you'll need to open before you find the carbon level is right?
It take less than two weeks to bang this out, and 20 min to brew...grab some bottles from the recycle depotglassgiant wrote:I hope you'll keep us updated. Losing 3 bottles is not so bad. I was picturing a dozen! I'd love to do a hard lemonade, but I've got a white and RIS fermenting right now, that I don't have bottles for. The summer would be nearly over by the time it was ready. Maybe next summer.
How long do you leave it on the blueberries?canuck wrote:I made it last summer as well, and it was a little odd at first drinking a purple beer. Not the manliest looking beer. lol I much prefer using real blueberries over extract, such a much more natural taste to me. I upped the amount of blueberries this time around from 5 pounds last year to 6 pounds this year.
This is last year's batch.
I leave it on the blueberries for 10 days or so.LeafMan66_67 wrote:How long do you leave it on the blueberries?canuck wrote:I made it last summer as well, and it was a little odd at first drinking a purple beer. 2nd batch is bottled, just need to carbon for 3 days, and then a hot water bath. I used 8 cups of sugar to back sweeten it this time. Tastes really good, even tho it's flat.glassgiant wrote:I hope you'll keep us updated. Losing 3 bottles is not so bad. I was picturing a dozen!
