I don't know what the big deal is. If U don't like the price or the item then don't buy it. If people don't buy it then ng likely won't carry them anymore.

Remember ng is a business that has to pay their rent at multiple locations and employees while still turning a profit. U can't expect them to compete at the same prices with guys like obk.

Now drink some beers :)

The hell with it I have deleted the 'offending' post. I can talk till I am blue i the face on how there exist better products at better prices and truly it wont matter. We are stuck in this cycle as a province of consumers which makes us determined it would seem to spend money (15 to 20% more) than other provinces for poorer quality products lacking cutting edge functions. We constantly seem to believe this idea that these products will be weeded out by price and quality, some call it what the market will bear etc. The one thing all of these ideas about products function and quality ignores, idiots. There are enough idiots willing to sink money into products without looking around that it skews the market. Where one fool exist there must exist more, so the products keep coming in. Look I get it the lazy brewers are it would seem defining the market and its products but we as consumers dont need to blindly accept those products because someone brought them in. We ought to demand better equipment especially when we know its available at a similar price. More than that we ought to not be guilted into this idea that buying a better product elsewhere is somehow "unsupportive" of our local businesses. Hell you have them in stock and I am in the market and it looks decent I will buy it. But dont feed me a plate of ground beef for 200 bucks and tell me its filet mignon. This is the entirety of what riles me up. No god damned wonder we get screwed over so hard in this province when it comes to buying things and paying out the ass for them. As far as the part I took personal the way in which they stated that my need for a racking arm inside of a fermenter (which was the feature I was discussing at the time) could be solved by visiting one of their stores irked me. I want a product with these features and I know where they are available, I dont need what I felt to be a shot implying that such things were unneeded and that I simply needed NGs help to avoid trub and yeasties when racking. The hell with it, I cant change the market nor ask for people to demand better gear when its available. The sheeple will always follow the path of the herder it seems. So to OBK my business doth go. And any who ask me will be shown the two products and the pros and cons not just offer them one carrot and call it the entire garden.

Myself, I love a good rant... but I can't read that crap unless it's in proper paragraphs. Too much mumble jumble to me. Learn to paragraph.

Well thought out, and a lot of good points. Quite the rant :)

Have you had much experience shopping at Noble Grape? I go to the one in Coldbrook. The staff are awesome there, they’ve been like mentors on my journey since I first started brewing, and they’ve spent hours talking to me. They taught me how to keg initially. I remember it was my birthday Nov 2012 and Kathleen and I were in the store for at least an hour getting a full and excellent instruction and demonstration. I got all my used kegs from them, they were clean and not a bad price when you take into account no shipping. I got my CO2 tanks from there, they came full of CO2, and when they run out, I take them to NG for a tank exchange. I think that's an excellent service, convenient, quick, no hassle, they maintain the tanks. The CO2 tanks are a good price also compared to online (don't forget they are full). I pick up my bulk sacks of grain from NG. They have imported grains that I’m interested in, German Pilsner, and MO, and with the Brewnosers discount and NO shipping I’m way ahead. Ever got a quote on having a sack of grain shipped? I also pick up other things I need like PET bottles etc. I got the best deal there on my Blichmann gun, same with the 20 Gal blichmann pot I just bought from them. It was cheaper there than ordering online and paying shipping. They brought one into the store just for me to have a look at several months ago, they had to get it back in when I eventually decided to get it for the full volume mashing. That's another thing ...you can look at things and have a demonstration before you buy. It’s damn convenient having a local store of such high quality. The staff up here have a lot of brewing knowledge, they taught me a lot when I started out. Oh, nearly forgot, they just took my competition entry down to Garrisons, on the Thursday, in a snow storm.

Some things will be slightly more. As mentioned they have the costs of running a retail store. I like the experience of shopping in a small retail store. It's the complete opposite of Wal-Mart.

It doesn’t sound like anyone is ever going to get you to like that fermenting pot though :)

Ps. I thought the fermenter is the yeast which ferments. A container in which the fermenter ferments is a fermentor (with an or at the end). Am I wrong on that? I notice OBK calls them fermenters.

Just looked it up. It does have some novel features. I think it might be a hit with the majority of brewers and wine makers who don't have advanced requirements. Not for me though. I'm a dedicated kettle fermenter and keg conditioner. Never even owned a carboy.
New Stainless Steel Fermenters!
When only the best will do! Why would you want one you ask? (Good question)
-Single stage fermenting of beer can minimize risk of contamination through transferring
-Or makes a great primary fermenter for wine
-Unlike a pail, the lid seals well creating an air tight environment
-Unlike a glass carboy, much easier to clean and won’t break
-Unlike plastic, won’t get scratches that can harbor bacteria
-Handy tap that fits a syphon hose for transferring or bottling.
-30 litre total capacity so rarely requires a blow off hose
-It's shiny and looks really cool :)
Price $199.99

I still don't see the big deal.

You guys don't realize how lucky you are in ns to have noble grape. Here in Calgary we have the vineyard and wine crafters and it's more expensive than ng on many of their products. A pack of liquid yeast is 12.99. Vineyard is great but not the variety of ng.

So we have two stores for a place that has a population of 1.2 million people. And both stores are the size of my living room.

Plus, You have a kickass home brew club, group buys, forum and availability of choices.

^ Totally agree with Jamie. I honestly don't see what the big deal is either. I really wish that we had a local store like NG here in Saint John. We don't have a single store here to purchase any AG supplies.....not a single one! So to go ballistic on a local retailer just because you don't care for one of their products is pretty classless.
