I always measure out my sugar in a measuring cup, then add a cup of boiling water and stir to dissolve. That goes in the bottom of my bottling bucket and then I rack on top of it immediately. The boiling water likely kills a few of the first yeast coming through but I've never had a problem with under carbonation so *shrug*

I do the same, except I cool the sugar/water mix. Mine goes into the bottom of my keg now.adams81 wrote:I always measure out my sugar in a measuring cup, then add a cup of boiling water and stir to dissolve. Re: Bottle Carbonation
I mix my water and sugar pretty thick, heat it, and dump it in the keg pretty hot, after the keg's been filled.
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter.

Re: Bottle Carbonation
Seems as though I jinxed myself. My cranberry wheat hardly carbed up at all after 2 weeks. I'll give it a couple more weeks, but paranoia has officially set in.

As long as they are carbed enough to keep the oxygen off\out of it you should be fine. Just means you can drink more with less burps inbetween

Re: Bottle Carbonation
2 weeks is also a bit short for bottle carbing - I always find they get to about the final level around 3/4 weeks.
planning: beer for my cousin's wedding
Fermenting: black ipa
Conditioning:
Kegged: barrel barleywine from 2014 - i think i still have this somewhere

Re: Bottle Carbonation
That's why I'm not too worried yet, but I've been very consistent with ready in 2 weeks as long as I follow my standard methodology.CorneliusAlphonse wrote:2 weeks is also a bit short for bottle carbing - I always find they get to about the final level around 3/4 weeks.
