I think the bolt was too tight. It snapped when taking it off. Just fired it up without the bolt loose and had a perfect blue flame. Taking 2 weeks off brewing then getting back on the wagon once time allows.

Yea after having issues, burning 2 towels trying to maintain temp, etc, etc. I decided to say fuck it. It was 5:30 had to get supper the kids bathed and didn't feel like having a 10 hour brew day.

I'll be replacing my Burner next and upgrading to something that will support my new 55 gallon pot when I decide to upgrade.

I was going to try and salvage it. But after trying to maintain a boil by wrapping the pot, and burning a few towels I up and said fuck it.

Yep - use the "panic post" Brewnoser option - there's always a burner around!

Shitty! I have the KAB6 Bayou Classic 210,00 btu burner and really like how it shaves time off my brew day. I can get 10-12 g to boil in about 15 mins from pulling my BIAB. You should consider it. I save allot of propane with a heat shield. It took me a while to figure out the beast. I need to keep the propane cylinder in a bucket of water so its doesn't freeze up.

Wow, that sounds like quite the burner! A real quick Google looks like best place to buy it is OBK? Is that where you got yours?

I picked it up at OBK when they started carrying it last spring. Free shipping at the time. When I first started using it I couldn't get two 6 gallon batches to a tank. Played with it and using a heat shield I've done two 10 g batches and have 25 % propane left in my tank now. It's a beast and a pig on propane but worth a look for big batches.

The Wayfarers Ale people were here last Saturday. We ate bacon, drank beer and brewed my latest beer, an IPA called “Three”. Amarillo Galaxy and Simcoe, dry hopped a bit with Simcoe and using the Conan. I kegged it today and I really like it. I think I’ll crash carb/chill one of the kegs for 24hrs and bottle a couple of bottles to send to Winnipeg for feedback.

It’s a bit exciting being part of the new brewery planned for 2015. It is all falling into place nicely. Nothing to do with me, but they have an amazing organization/group of investors. I think it is going to be quite something. It's a huge project starting up something like that. As brewers we think we are the be all and end all of beer, but really we are just technicians and part of a bigger picture.

Mark I believe the opposite, it's all about the beer and the brewer has everything to do with that. Read Johnny Macs sig.

charmers and I are brewing up an American style red today
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

I agree with LiverDance - it's about the beer, and as a homebrewer, I definitely don't think I'm the be all and end all of beer - I'm along for the ride and if I can learn something new at each brew session that is a bonus!

I'm making the base for two fruit beers today, one blueberry and one raspberry.

RIS tomorrow. I'm going to dry nib this baby in secondary and add a vanilla bean or two as well. Trying to make something similar to Boxing Rocks U889. Really enjoyed that beer.
