Depending on when my hops are ready to be harvested, I may be doing an IPA, wet hopped with cascade and eroica, and dry hopped with nugget.

I'm hoping to test out the new mill on Sunday after we get back from the wedding. I'll be brewing 15 gallons. 10 gallon IPA using my Pineapple IPA recipe malt build, will adjust the hops a bit to use up some leftovers in the freezer. I'll also be brewing a 5 gallon of my nut brown. I'll be adding 1/4lb of Crystal 30 to increase the malt presence slightly, and 1/4lb of Carapils to help with the head retention. If ABV goes too high, I want to stay in style so I'll reduce some of the base malt if necessary.

As I have 8 empty kegs and this only filling 3 the following weekend I'll brew another 15 gallons. I may brew a nice Bitter and a wheat beer.

Mashed in on my Hailstorm IPA at lunch and will finish up after supper this eve. Seems fitting to brew this after the weather last week
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Kirsten taught my sister how to brew this week. This is a picture of my sister, stirring the mash.

They made a session IPA, which they split up to ferment with two different yeasts.

Are you going to post a recipe for that? I know a prospective Brewnoser who is extremely interested in being able to brew a session IPA. Is it traditional English style or American?

Was planning to brew up a saison, but somehow ended up cleaning my kegs and keezer instead. Some nasty stuff there, have to pick up some damp rid. Also cleaned the taps and shanks, some nasty grime in there. The saison has to wait til next weekend.

Fermenting: Oud bruin/Vienna Pekko SMaSH
On tap: Nelson dry hopped Berliner/ Scottish Heavy 70-/ NE IPA

What's everyone making this weekend?

Post by mumblecrunch » Sun Aug 17, 2014 9:15 pm

Currently cooling down 5 gal of Fizzy Yellow Beer, essentially a Vienna Ale (I think Whyte made this one last fall).

First brew with my new mash tun (thanks Trevor!) and my new cooler bag (thanks Jimmy and Becky!). Edit: oh hey, first time using one o' them newfangled wide-mouth fermenters (thanks Dave!)

Giving it WLP080 Cream Ale Blend. Also hitting it with the ClarityFerm as it's a gift batch (or at least most of it is; have to keep some around for quality control purposes).

Going to do the BCS non-caramel APA. Doing a 120 minute boil (on purpose this time) and using Galena for bittering because I've got it on hand. Fermenting with San Diego Super Yeast (WLP091) mostly because I have it but also in an effort to have a bottled beer ready in 4 weeks.

That's a solid recipe.
At Alexander Keith's we follow the recipes first developed by the great brewmaster to the absolute letter. :wtf:

Don't wait, I can assure you it's very good and I'm sure there's other folks on here who will also vouch for it.

The APA kit from Everwood is "remarkably similar" to this recipe.

In addition to the 120 minute boil I've lowered the gravity a little to try to make it more sessionable and to account for the higher expected attenuation of the yeast. Predicted Gravities are 1.052/1.010 for 5.5%ABV. I won't be too unhappy if It comes in a little lower than that.

Was going to make a dubbel for the December calendar thingy, but I forgot to make a starter. But as I had already mashed in, I am switching it to oude brun. Fermenting it for a week with us-05 before racking to secondary and adding a pouch of roselare blend. Will hopefully be sour enough before December.

Just cooling 10 gallons of Nut Brown. I'll probably brew a fresh batch for Decembeer as I don't expect this to last 3 months.
