Got the chance for a somewhat unexpected brew day today, so brewing 10 gallons of APA. Going to ferment the whole batch with Yeast Bay Vermont Ale with plans to harvest and reuse the yeast.

I was planning for a Coopers Canadian blonde today. With the Coopers can, I got 2 tubs of CAN-ADD-A ( light LME with Hops in it, 1.2 kg each) from NG.

Should I add one or both to the coopers?

1 should be lots. Boil up some hops for fresher taste. I think you should look at higher end kits and workup to partial mash.

Your in the right place to get that going.

Marc,
If you have questions regarding partial kit brew processes, let me know. I'm not familiar with the coopers kits myself, and as Sandy said, look at some of the higher end kits. the NG boxed kits are easy to follow and will get you on the right path. Dave @ Everwood also sells kits (I get my custom kits from him) and I'd be happy to invite you over on my next brew day to walk you through what I'm doing. That being said I'll be brewing on my new 10 gallon setup, and if you like we can split the batch. :cheers2:

Brewing up a IIPA in the vein of Stone's Enjoy By with Chalmers and Justin :cheers3:
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

I did get a pilsner extract kit from dave, it is waiting for more room.

I ended up with the coopers because (not my fault) after the gf picked me up after I had a couple too many, she decided to go to walmart. I decided to go to NG because I needed a couples of o-ring. Well, what was my surprise when I walked out of there with the O-rings, a carboy cleaner chummy, a keg and the cooper beer kit :o (GF was even more surprised...)

Well, I am stuck with it, might as well drink it! It might come in handy as some of my friends don't appreciate beer that taste real beer.

The LME tub (CAN-ADD-A) from NG already has some hallertauer in it. should I still add more hop to the mix?

If you are serving it to the boys who don't like beer then leave it. You may make it too bitter for to their delicate taste buds.

I'm working on a cream ale for this weekend:

80% 6 row
20% flaked corn
Centennial Hops
US-05
~17 IBU

First shot at flaked corn, also trying to treat my water and hit mash ph for the first time so could be an educational day.

Hey Gang,

Last week I put on a Brew House Pumpkin Ale. Next Friday I will put it in my shiny new keg. I will probably put on another Brew House kit the same day for my other new keg...thinking a Pale Ale or India Pale Ale. these will be my first kegs for beer. I got tired of bottling.
Take care, Bluefin.

New kegs? Kinda expensive. Ken down at BL has reconditioned kegs for much cheaper than new. Have you tried the 23 liter bagged wort sold here http://www.brewcraft.com/shop/index.php ... r=category" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I would be curious about those my self not having liked the Brew House kits much. Now Festa kits which we can't get here are fantastic.

Tomorrow, I'm making my "Champagne Citra" with conan yeast (Yeast Bay Vermont). Starter is done and chilling in the fridge. Pilsner with a little carafoam and acid malt. FWH, late and lightly dry hopped with citra.

Brewing 3 batches today. Going to start with a session IPA (something like founders all day ipa), 1.048 og just 2-row and light crystal, 48 ibus from simcoe and amarillo, dry hopped with simcoe, amarillo and centennial. Then moving on to a MO Simcoe SmaSH, and finally wrapping up with a batch of my Good beer for people who like bad beer. Will be a long busy brewday!

3 batches is huge. I did a triple batch using extract and it was a long day. Do you have a couple setups running?

Lot of work indeed, but the same amount of prep/cleanup as for one batch!

I only have one tun, but 3 burners and 2 kettles

Thinking of running my first BIAB tonight. A North German Alt. I'm hoping to have a minimalist setup for low - moderate 5.5G batches and save "Ivan" for the tried and true recipes where I'm certain that I want 10 gallons.

Nothing in the primary fermentor but got the secondary cold crashing my first partial extract (or partial mash), a Bestcase 1820 Authentic IPA kit I picked up from NG in Halifax when I visited last weekend. :mebeer: Cheers!

I'm hoping to get the 2nd part of this wine done today. ugh.

I have a serious itch to brew. Can't wait until the 26th to get my BIAB from Becky, then I'll be brewing my first all grain batch which will likely be a Pineapple IPA using Belma hops. Followed by a Belma WFM the following day. :cheers2:
