Did you ever brew using the hop bag again? I'm curious how it's holding up, and how it worked with a higher hopped beer.

Brewing up a Bohemian Pilsner tomorrow to get a summer beer in the pipeline. I plan on lagering this for a few months so it will be ready in time for summer. Next brew after that will be Bell's Hopslam clone.

Let me know how the hopslam works out :cheers3: are you putting the recipe up?
"Twenty years ago — a time, by the way, that hops such as Simcoe and Citra were already being developed, but weren’t about to find immediate popularity — there wasn’t a brewer on earth who would have gone to the annual Hop Growers of American convention and said, “I’m going to have a beer that we make 4,000 barrels of, one time a year. It flies off the shelf at damn near $20 a six-pack, and you know what it smells like? It smells like your cat ate your weed and then pissed in the Christmas tree.” - Bell’s Brewery Director of Operations John Mallet on the scent of their popular Hopslam.

Made a Kölsch from Brewing Classic Styles, but added a little bit of carafoam and substituted Hersbrucker with Tettang for 60 mins and added some more Tettang at flameout for aroma.
Few pictures:
The ingredients for the day, german pilsner malt, vienna and carafoam

Gravity sample, nice and light colour, should be around 5% when the WLP 0029 German ale/Kölsch yeast does its magic

Had a grain incident while milling Saturday afternoon - must have been something a bit hard in the grain - caught in the rollers and the same moment I was taking a sip of coffee. Flipped my Barley Crusher, sending around 6 pounds of mixed grain across the floor, in the dehumdifer, under the washer, dryer ... pretty much everywhere. Hard to believe how far and wide garin will spread across a concrete floor!

Its going to be one of those days. Burner is acting up - can't get the yellow adjusted out of the flame. Funny how just last night the wife told me to go out and get whatever burner I needed!

Anyway, I'm getting ready to mash in with the trial BIAB bag from Jimmy, making another attempt at Propeller ESB. Going to call this one "Dust Bunny Bitter. http://www.brewnosers.org/forums/viewto ... f=4&t=4053

Ah.....left my valve open on my keggle while sparging, lost about 5 liters on my floor. I could cry... :barf2: at least my sixth sense told me to go have a look. ;)

I was going to make a dubbel today, but I ended up burning my sugar a little, so I'm leaving it out and making a Belgian pale ale instead. I'll put the slightly burnt syrup in a stout or something.

The only saving grace of today porter was the weather. Otherwise it was a disaster, one small issue after another and ended up taking 7 hours.

Got a couple batches of grain ground,* going to brew a special bitter and an American wheat sometime this week, both from BCS. Thinking of putting the wheat On some fruit in secondary, maybe blood orange since I saw them at Costco and they might give it a nice colour.
planning: beer for my cousin's wedding
Fermenting: black ipa
Conditioning:
Kegged: barrel barleywine from 2014 - i think i still have this somewhere
