Re: Post your kegerator/bar
Interesting, I was thinking of making a fermentation chamber out of it but $35 sounds good too.
Just checked the website, they only take working appliances and they test on site.
I'm thinking I could chill glycol in the working freezer and pump it through the cooling coil in the dead freezer. I'm only looking to get down to say 12 degrees.

Fermentation chamber might be a better use, if you can hook up something to recirc glycol to keep it cool.

The site says the appliance has to be working, unfortunately.chalmers wrote:Looking great, sucks about the dead freezer. If you are looking to get rid of it, get NS Power to do all the heavy lifting, plus get $35 for it!!http://www.efficiencyns.ca/for_homes/en ... t_program/

Re: Post your kegerator/bar
guess this is an update to my keezer and bringing this thread back from the dead for any newbies to post pics of their setups.
finally got rid of the manifold and got my regs setup....pics of old setup are somewhere in the thread.

added a couple more taps too...with a stout faucet

just got to grab those magnetic tool trays from busy bee for drip trays as my last homemade tray got knocked off by someone and broke.

I know the guys in the states use Damprid, but I'm not sure it's available up here. You may have to find a similar product up here.

I'm currently experimenting with kitty litter
....ok..sort of..its the silica crystals found at pet stores for cats, not sure if its working like i want it to yet as it hasn't been that long in there. Silica crystals or decadent(sp) absorbs moisture....probably the same stuff that's in 'damp rid' but i couldn't find that stuff easily. Michaels sells silica crystals for drying out flowers, but it was pricey. I'm sure halifax has more places to buy this kind of stuff, or you could go to walmart and rob all the shoes boxes of those little decadent packages.

If your getting alot of water build up you might have a leak somewhere that warm damp air is getting in through. You might want to get some silicone or something and go around anywhere it might be letting some air in.

mcmaster sells large a 2-pack of tyvek bags of silica gel for ~$12 (good for ~10,000 ft^3 each)
when they're full, you can "re-charge" them in your oven.
perhaps it's time for another group buy?

Re: Post your kegerator/bar
Question for the other people with keezers....how do you have your temp probe setup? I've seen some ppl put the probe in a bottle of water.....Is this supposed to make it more efficient? cut down on the freezer cutting in and out? etc.........currently mine is just hanging free so its controlled by the air temperature. Does using the probe in the liquid(less rapid change in temp) make it better?

Re: Post your kegerator/bar
I would say using a bottle of water, or some other implement to get a large thermal mass is better than just the probe hanging loose. Of course, ideal would be to stick it in a keg, but that's not feasible. You'd like to shadow the temperature of the beer in the keg as closely as possible, so putting it in a bottle of water is a good analog.Jmac00 wrote:Question for the other people with keezers....how do you have your temp probe setup? Finally got my keezer and taps setup to the point where I can post some pictures. I hopefully have most of the kinks worked out now.
Just need a little more dressing up around the taps. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Pressure Gauge LH thread local
*Blast the left hand thread* I broke my high pressure gauge a few weeks ago and have been trying to source one locally. I have the exact same one as in the picture on the far left above from SIMGO. I will throw in a "plug" or "cap" of some kind if I cannot find one until I get one ordered from Simgo but prefer to stay local as I won't be in missingsausage for a while and hate paying shipping. Has anyone located one locally? I tried Praxair and Liquid Air no luck.Jmac00 wrote:guess this is an update to my keezer and bringing this thread back from the dead for any newbies to post pics of their setups.

Re: Pressure Gauge LH thread local
i thought i broke mine a couple weeks ago, but ended up just tightening it an extra half turn and it works fine now. (except the gauge faces the wrong way.. haha). If i can dig up the thread, i had seen them for sale pretty cheap on a website (but not locally).erslar00 wrote: *Blast the left hand thread* I broke my high pressure gauge a few weeks ago and have been trying to source one locally. edit: i was looking at Beverage Factory. ten bux for a gauge. but I'm not sure what shipping is like.

Re: Post your kegerator/bar
I purchased a fridge off of Kijiji and converted it to a Kegerator with four taps. I painted a small part of the freezer door with chalkboard paint so I write what's currently on tap. I had a piece of stainless steel made for the fridge door and riveted it just for aesthetics. I just keep glasses and hops in the freezer portion.

And my other bar fridge.

Very nice! I would have gone for a different brewery for the barrel look
, but the idea is very cool.

I saw one of those on Kijiji a while back. The guy was asking an obscene price (I was too shocked to remember exactly). How much did you get yours for?chalmers wrote:Very nice! I would have gone for a different brewery for the barrel look, but the idea is very cool.

Well, Alexander Keith's is still a fine beer, you just need somebody other than In/Bev to brew it.chalmers wrote:Very nice! I would have gone for a different brewery for the barrel look, but the idea is very cool.

I won it at the Saint John Ale House so I didn't buy it. I am not sure how much they would go for, but I am guessing they wouldn't be cheap.KMcK wrote:I saw one of those on Kijiji a while back.
