Festa Brew Double Oatmeal Stout -- add coffee?

Post by D7x » Sun Mar 30, 2014 2:48 pm

I brewed up a batch of festa brew double oatmeal stout and was wondering if anyone made this before and could have some insight in adding a little bit of coffee when I fill the keg?

Yes, I have added coffee to my own oatmeal stout. I'll see what I can find, hopefully I wrote something down. IIRC, I cold steeped the ground beans in sterilized water for a day or so...

Cool, any idea how much of the cold brewed coffee you used?

2.5 oz of beans per 5 gallons.

I've added fresh brewed coffee in a Porter last year. I brewed 2 cups (500 ml) in an Italian coffee maker and I let it rest until the temp dropped to around 20C. Added to my bottling bucket along with the priming sugar just before racking and bottling. If I ever do it again, I'll probably add a little less, maybe 300-400 ml, but my girlfriend loved it as is. Hope that helps a little!
