Hello All.
My question is having the crushed grain in a unsealed bag will that affect the quailty and freshness?

Re: Question and Rant
That’s a shame, sounds like a piss off.
The closest NG to me in Coldbrook is really good. Ed there is great, I only say one word on the phone…hello, and he responds “hello Mark” I got this or that in for you etc. he makes sure he always has a bag of MO out the back for me. He automatically puts in my Brewnoser discount. It’s more "out in the country" here.

Re: Question and Rant
I don't think I would store your crushed grains in the fridge. Room temp. is fine. The key is to avoid moisture. (Before I got my crusher, I would just twist the bag well and store in a dry corner some where; it was fine.) A fridge also runs the risk of adding fridge flavours (or maybe I just need to clean my fridge more!). Re: Question and Rant
Hey man, sorry for the fumble. Not to sure of what happen or who was working that day. Mistakes happen and of course we work to keep these scenarios to a minimum. I'm going to send you a PM, I would appreciate a little more clarification on the situation and hope we can rectify ourselves.

Re: Question and Rant
You should not be worried at all, just RAHAHB. Here is the best advice I got on this question from an earlier thread.
I also would not lay this on the retailer. All of the home brew supply places I've been to, do not seal the milled grain bags with anything but a twist tie. That is pretty much standard practice.
Enjoy your brew.

Both H&T and RB have no mills, nor does Rogues along with many other small breweries with space constraints. Up until about the mid 2000's the maltster recommended using it up within 6 months, now they recommend using it within 3 months, it comes in plain old malt bags lined with a plastic barrier bag. You're good for a few months my friend!

Re: Question and Rant
Agreed. The missing mesh bag is the real problem.
