IBUs in a Spruce 'pale'
Let's pretend we're going fairly neutral with S-05 and EKG or Williamette, and the spruce tips are going in in the last 15 minutes. Keep IBUs low-ish say 15-25?

I used aprox. 35 IBU's in my first Spruce Ale and about 3 1/2 Oz of spruce tips in the last 15 minutes.

Thanks Tony. How was the spruce character compared to the hop bitterness at 35?

Spruce was really good. It wasn't that bitter as the spruce covered it up pretty good. Still waiting on the judging sheets to see the comments on it from Montreal.
Then again, I didn't find Arrogant Bastard all that bitter

Cool. I may hedge my bets and shoot for +/- 30
