Fermcap Failure?

Post by spears104 » Mon Jun 10, 2013 10:03 am

I was making a IIPA yesterday morning. I had a good rolling boil going and I used Fermcap per the instructions (1-2 drops per gallon) but still had a hell of a time controlling boil overs. This happened to me once before and I can't really explain it. Other times I have used Fermcap the boil stays under control with no problems. Has anyone else experienced this?

When you add a lot of hops you're adding a tonne of nucleation sites. You'll need to use triple or more the suggested rate to keep it under control :cheers2:

I definitely added lots of hops in this one. Thanks!
