Anyone use a 10 gal for their brewing, im just looking for a boil off rate as im brewing with a new one tonight?

Do a water only run. Not all 10 Gallon kettles and heat sources are the same.

I'm not sure which variables add more to boil-off, but elevation, humidity, surface area and BTUs of your burner all come into play. Presumably your kettle size and elevation will remain constant, but humidity you have no control over.OntarioBeerkegs wrote:Do a water only run. If you are brewing with it tonight with a 40L batch I would use 12% for a propane burner to start off.

I have beersmith setup for 5L/hr with the OBK 15G kettle.
Boil-off percentage will change as the batch volume changes. Brewing a 10g batch will result in the same amount of boil-off (5L for me) as a 5g batch.

I have a 58L keggle. I was consistent with 6L per Hour boil off on 21L batches on my turkey fryer burner. When I changed to the Blichman burner, my boil off changed to 5L per hour.
