Hey all, I'm in need of some advice. I have had my keezer running already but feel the need to insulate the collar as well as add a fan to circulate the air.
My main concern is, what should I use to insulate the collar? The collar is only 2x4 with a stain on it. Freezer is roughly 8cu ft. I keep the temperature at 3° with 2 degree leeway on the Johnson controller.
I'm waving between either Styrofoam, Owens corning insulation board (both 1" thick) or using reflectix a few times for the air pockets it can provide.
Any and all advice is welcomed. Thanks in advance too.

Re: Keezer Collar
I'd probably use styrofoam or the insulation board - seems to be the norm and has a more finished look than reflectix.

Re: Keezer Collar
Thanks Jimmy. Should I avoid tacking it with screws and washers and go with liquid nails or 3m adhesive?

Re: Keezer Collar
I used styrofoam and reflective aluminum duct tape on mine. Some pictures here, need to update it now that it is complete. http://www.brewnosers.org/forums/viewto ... =41&t=4603" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

+1 styrofoam and aluminum duct tape.
I used No More Nails to attach the styrofoam to the inside of the collar.

Wicked stuff all. Thanks for the help. Getting my hands on some Styrofoam. This should work great.

Re: Keezer Collar
I used caulking that dried clear on mine with the 1 inch pink Styrofoam. I did staple mine to the collar but then caulked over the staples. I only have 3/4 pine as a collar on mine and I think its holding temp pretty well.
Before I moved my keezer into the house from the garage I killed all the lights and threw a big ass flashlight inside of it and closed it up. Anywhere that I saw light coming through I re-caulked cause if you can see light coming through, you can bet your ass there will be a draft.

Re: Keezer Collar
I am doing this once the collar is insulated to see if I need to use a foam strip around the top. Adding a fan to it too, so the less loss on circulation the happier I am. Thanks for this advice.ethier.sc wrote: Before I moved my keezer into the house from the garage I killed all the lights and threw a big ass flashlight inside of it and closed it up.
