Conditioning in growlers

Post by sleepyjamie » Thu Jan 31, 2013 6:36 pm

At the single hop exchange rob said he conditioned in growlers. Any tips or things to worry about? Was thinking of doing this during my next bottling.

I've read up about it. The 1.89 growlers are not built for that pressure that priming can build to. So you'll have a good chance of making a beer bomb doing this. The swing top 1 L bottles (a la Sea Level) are built for that amount of pressure though.

I use growlers all the time. I've overcarbonated, but never had anything explode.
