Simulated lagering

Post by know1 » Thu Sep 27, 2012 10:31 pm

I ran my oktoberfest through a 10-micron plate filter tonight using a vacuum pump. Took about 10 minutes for a corny but it caused a lot of foaming which makes me a bit concerned with the post-filtered head retention and oxidation. I suppose I could attempt to draw from a sealed keg with co2 connected....maybe next time.

The after filtered sample has a noticeably smoother, crisp taste with no significant loss in character.
